iMvula Group
Introduction
iMvula is a black-owned enterprise comprising of a dynamic team of South Africans that have joined forces to facilitate the establishment of a diverse group of companies. iMvula facilitates and promotes Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment through the combined processes of skills and personal development as well as wealth creation through equity ownership at all levels.
iMvula's philosophy on empowerment is that it should be multi-directional and multi-faceted in order to be sustainable. In other words, it should not simply be an empowerment transaction whereby shareholders are financially empowered by a company. iMvula's philosophy is to facilitate meaningful participation in the different sectors of the South African economy, driven by an ability to add value to underlying investments, thereby enhancing the value of the core business of all companies within the group and that of its business partners.
The group has assembled a strong and representative management team with solid track records of performance in the different sectors in which the group operates, thereby enabling the benefits of Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment participation in these different sectors to flow to a broader base of HDI's including the management and personnel of all group companies.
Green Building Security – Not Just Security - iMvula Quality Protection May 2012
As properties “go green” to stay abreast with increasing public interest in environmental sustainability and responsibility, security companies are also forced to rethink the way in which they render their services.
Going green often means more open spaces providing natural light and free airflow internally and more trees and shrubbery of external areas and parking lots to minimise the urban heat island effect. In addition to this lighting at night time may be reduced to save energy and reduce light pollution.
From a security point of view, these arrangements in itself can be perceived as creating security
|
risks as more accessible entry points are created, the line of sight of external surveillance and alarm systems such as cameras and beams is limited and guarding efficiency is compromised due to the same reasons. It is therefore of utmost importance that whenever a green building is planned that security expertise is involved right from the beginning. However, this will not always be the case and security companies will have to be inventive and demonstrate a sound understanding and expertise in the safeguarding of green buildings whenever requested to develop a security plan for a particular green building.
Facilities managers will be more and more inclined to take this expertise into account whenever selecting a security company to plan and execute security services at a green building.
IMvula Quality Protection is such a security company. Read more »
